Porthleven is an old fishing port with a historic drying harbour dating
back to the early nineteenth century. As well as the great sense of
history, the town is characterised by a mixture of chic restaurants,
pottery workshops and chippies. As with Dartmouth, it’s a great
place for a family holiday.
If you look at the depth of the wrecks featured in the paragraph below
you’ll see that once again, there’s a great range of diving
here to suit all levels of diver.
Situated in Mount's Bay, halfway between Penzance and Lizard Point,
Porthleven is a very good base for us as you can head east to the Lizard
to dive on wrecks such as the Mohegan(),
the Volnay()
and the Veritas()
or to dive the great scenics of the Manacles().
Alternatively, we head west past St Michael’s Mount towards Land’s
End. Wrecks dived in Mount’s Bay might include the Alice Marie()
and the SS Hellopes()
with the Runnel Stone’s City of Westminster()
and Wolf Rock()
being the main targets out towards Lands End.
